Panel replacement FAQ
Do you replace electrical panels yourselves?
No. We are a matching service. We introduce you to up to 3 licensed local electricians. Any contract is between you and them.
Did CPSC recall Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels?
CPSC closed its FPE Stab-Lok investigation in 1983 without issuing a recall from that investigation and without making a final safety determination. Read the CPSC release for the exact wording.
Will every Florida insurer reject an FPE or Zinsco panel?
No universal public rule covers every carrier. Many private carriers treat these brands as ineligible; Citizens requires 4-point inspections on older homes and underwrites from the report. Ask your agent.
How much does replacement cost?
National guides often show about $1,200–$2,000 for a typical upgrade, with FPE/Zinsco-specific figures commonly cited around $1,500–$4,000. Florida jobs that include permits and a 200-amp upgrade are often discussed in the mid thousands.
Do I need a permit?
Yes in normal residential panel replacement cases. Hillsborough County's published HB 803 exemption expressly excludes electrical work.
How fast can this clear an insurance issue?
It depends on electrician schedule, permit turnaround, utility coordination and your carrier's documentation rules. Start as soon as your agent flags the panel.
Is phone required on the form?
Email and ZIP are required. Phone is optional; if you provide it, electricians you are matched with may use it to reach you about the quote.
